The front door should be not only durable, but also beautiful. Increasingly, a metal door is used as an entrance door, providing the highest degree of protection. Most often, the installation of an entrance metal door can be done independently and you will not need special skills. For this, you will need to prepare the doorway to the desired size.

Work procedure

To start installing the front door, you need to prepare the doorway: turn off the bell, intercom (if they are installed in the door), dismantle the old doors, prepare the doorway (expand or narrow). Next, you need to prepare all the necessary tools: a socket wrench for 17, at least 20 cm long, a set of screwdrivers, a hammer, a hammer drill with a drill for 14, polyurethane foam, a level, masking tape, tape measure, machine oil. Then you need to unpack the door and check if the kit contains tools and parts necessary for installation: anchors, plugs for technological holes, fasteners, fittings.

After unpacking the door, it is necessary to "try on" the entrance door into the opening, whether it will fit in size. Move the door carefully so as not to damage it. If the opening matches the size of the entrance door, you can proceed with the installation. It is necessary to tape the gaps in the door frame to prevent foam from getting into the transom compartments and cavities with a hinge. Further, using a level, the door is installed, the platbands must fit snugly against the outer wall. Next, through the technical holes, the puncher makes holes in the wall, into which the anchors are driven.

You need to start with the top anchors and go down to the bottom. 6 anchors are hammered, after each hammered anchor it is necessary to check with a level whether the door has not moved from its original position. If it has shifted, correct the position of the entrance door. Next, tighten the anchor nuts with a socket wrench and check if the door has moved. Then the technical holes are closed with plugs, the hinges and locks are lubricated with machine oil, the cracks between the box and the walls are filled with polyurethane foam. It is better to fill voids with foam starting from the bottom and moving up. The door is installed and after 24 hours it is ready to plaster the slopes.

A good tool is the foundation of a job well done. Many professionals know that sometimes you can save on materials, but never on the instrument. A high-quality set of hand tools, a socket wrench, a hammer and pliers will always come in handy for home craftsmen, and in the hands of professionals, this tool can work wonders. Moreover, with its help, it is possible to solve not only construction issues, it can also be useful in car locksmithing.

The order of the work

A mandatory tool for installing an entrance door is the presence of a minimum set: perforator, level, hammer, foam, fasteners, anchors. With this tool in place, you can get started.

1 Do-it-yourself installation of a new door usually begins with dismantling the old one. Remove it and prepare a place to install a new one. To install it correctly, you may need to widen or narrow the doorway. When expanding, if the door frame is concrete, use a grinder - this will allow you to get a smooth, even surface. The size of the opening should be 20-25 mm larger than the size of the door frame to be installed.

2 When installing a metal door, use wood wedges to accurately fit the frame in place. Using a spirit level, make sure that the door is in vertical position. Secure the box with anchor bolts by inserting them into the pre-drilled holes in the walls. After making sure the box is installed correctly, fix it permanently with cement mortar.

3 In the event that the doorway has to be narrowed, fill in the excess space with bricks or fill with concrete, installing a vertical wooden formwork almost to the very top. The concrete is poured through a hole in the upper part of the formwork. After the concrete hardens, the formwork is disassembled, the unfinished section remaining in the upper part is laid with bricks and plastered

4 Before pouring concrete, be sure to reinforce the junction with the main wall with pieces of reinforcement inserted into the drilled holes on the grout. If you are laying brickwork, insert reinforcement every three to four rows of brickwork.

5 After installing the door frame, drill the holes for the shutter. Place the hardware on the door lock. Finish the joints between the door frame and the walls. If the door does not have a decorative exterior finish or you don't like the existing one, use materials such as laminate, vinyl leather or natural wood to give the door the necessary decorative qualities.

Remember that the reliability of an entrance door is determined by the reliability of its weakest element. A bad lock or poor-quality fastening of the door frame can negate all the protective properties of the door. Often, burglars enter the premises by squeezing the door leaf at the place where the lock is attached. A high-quality door should not have a gap between the frame and the door, allowing you to insert a crowbar or other tool into it. Now you know how to insert the front door correctly and safely. Good luck.
