Door cassettes for sliding interior doors are designed to hide the open door leaf. This is a specially constructed box, which not only makes the appearance of the structure more decorative, but also protects it from dust, hides all the mechanisms. The sliding doors themselves are convenient in that they can save space, make the opening wider and more functional.
Application of cassettes and their variants
The owners of the premises do not always like it when the open door leaf is visible. Moreover, if there are small children in the house, there is a great risk that they will move the door and pinch their fingers. Cassettes for sliding doors will not only hide the canvases, but also protect the occupants from accidental injuries. The cassette is located along the wall, it helps to use the additional space that would be occupied by the canvas, since you can hang shelves on it, use it as a decor.
There are several types of door cassettes. Most types of sliding doors do not require additional opening space, unlike swing doors. However, when opening the sliding canvas, it is important that nothing is placed end-to-end on the wall and along it. Using a cassette allows you to move furniture close to the door, while not interfering with its opening.
A sliding door cassette is considered part of the wall, although it is mounted on top of it. When opened, the door leaf goes inside the cassette and does not interfere with the objects around. When choosing a design, you need to take into account the width of the doorway, the size of the canvases. In total, there are three types of cassettes:
- One-sided, when the door leaf is one and leaves in one direction.
- Double-sided models are designed for door leaves that open in different directions and are located on the left and right sides of the doorway.
- By the method of installation, they are distinguished between inside and outside. The first type is laid even during the construction of the building. In the wall where the doorway will be, leave a special cavity in which the door leaf will hide. External cassettes are installed at any time and mounted on top of the finished wall, without the need to break it.
If there is only one canvas, the cassette can be positioned either on the left or on the right side of the doorway, depending on which side the door is planned to open. If the door is double-leaf, the classic version of the cassette is its placement on both sides of the doorway. But there are such structures when both doors move to one side, then the cassette can be placed on it, however, it should be borne in mind that the thickness of the wall should allow this, since the structure will be wide enough. It is more difficult to install cassettes for three- or four-floor structures, but the mechanism is provided for them as well.

If necessary, the door cassette can be mounted into absolutely any wall, however, this will require its analysis, if such an idea was not laid down initially when planning the building project. If work takes place in an apartment, and you need to disassemble the load-bearing wall, you will need to obtain a special permit for this.
There is a little trick, and you can not disassemble the wall by mounting the cassette on top and closing its side with a false wall, which can be made of wood or drywall. This approach will help to get rid of unnecessary work and obtaining permits, and visually will not differ from the design assembled using the classical installation technology.
In any case, the wall will have to be sheathed with decorative panels, since if it has to be disassembled, it will be partially damaged and lose its attractive appearance. The surface can be plastered, having previously upholstered with a metal mesh.
How to mount correctly?
The cassette for mounting the sliding door is placed before the door leaf and all the mechanisms attached to it are installed. This is a rather laborious, but not complicated work, which, if necessary, can be done independently, which will save on the services of workers.
In order to properly perform the installation, you need to know the design features of the product. First of all, you need to decide where exactly the future doors will be located. A sliding door is a great space saving idea. It is well suited for places where narrow corridors or furniture is positioned in such a way that the swing door will interfere when opening. The door of the sliding system practically does not take up space when opened, and with proper installation it closes quite tightly. The cassette system design consists of the following elements:
- Metal carcass.
- Guide system.
- Roller mechanisms for moving the canvas.
- If the doors have many leaves, synchronization devices are used.
- Limiters and clamps.

The sliding door cassette is easy to assemble. To do this, you must first install its main elements. Manufacturers produce ready-made frames, which are accompanied by detailed assembly instructions.
The guide rail will get in the way if it is placed on the floor in the doorway, so there is no need to touch the floor covering. The entrance will be devoid of sills. If the door is multi-leaf, synchronizers are required to simultaneously open all the leaves, even if you pull one at the same time. If the cassette is installed correctly, visually it will merge with the wall, being a single whole with it. The structure must have sufficient rigidity and look monumental.

Why is the design convenient to use?
Compared to conventional door designs, sliding sliding doors have a number of advantages, which include the following:
- The doorway remains completely free, there are no thresholds and other obstacles inherent in doors with a frame.
- The cassette helps to better isolate noise, cold air, odor, ensuring the tightness of the room.
- The canvas does not block the wall space, so you can use it at your discretion.
- Sliding doors significantly save space when opening and can be used in narrow rooms.
- Convenient to open from any side.
- It can be used in openings up to 5 meters wide, which is impossible when using swing structures.
- You can adjust the opening width of the doorway.
- The cassette protects against accidental injury, does not allow self-opening and closing of the web.

The design features allow you to adjust the position of the door leaf. This usually happens in three directions, which allows the door to be perfectly aligned. Only in this case, the canvas will not experience problems when opening.
It can be adjusted by tilting the web and adjusting in depth: this helps to minimize the load on the frame and significantly extend its service life.
The only drawback of using such a system is the partial destruction of the walls. However, if you use the sheathing method, you do not need to demolish the wall. This is a convenient solution, since it takes a long time to obtain a permit, and it is far from always being issued.
Installing sliding doors using a cassette cabinet is a practical and easy-to-use idea that can be applied to any type of space.
