After installing beacons for plaster made of galvanized metal (as well as from other materials), the speed of finishing work increases, and the surface of the wall is smoother. This fully justifies all the costs for the purchase of profiles, from which guides, fasteners and special fasteners (or mortar) for them are made. Moreover, the installation of plaster beacons made of metal allows you to get a number of advantages over other options. Although they also have certain disadvantages.
Lighthouses are called guides for the rule when performing plastering work. Their use allows you to obtain a solution saving of 20 to 30% and approximately the same reduction in the time required for finishing walls, floors or ceilings. The lighthouses are fixed in various ways - both on plaster, and on the mount for "kremmer" -type beacons, and on "Ears", and even with plastic clips. Nevertheless, one of the fairly simple and often used options is the use of a solution. Although, along with the advantages of such an installation of plaster beacons, you can find a number of disadvantages.
Pros and cons of using metal beacons
The choice of metal guides for the installation of beacons when plastering walls, first of all, provides an acceleration of the work process.
It is imperative to remove metal guides from the solution to protect the finish from rusting. Otherwise, after a few months and with high humidity and sharp temperature changes, the lighthouse may rust, which will be quite noticeable against the light background of the finish
Although, if the room is well heated, the galvanized profile is not scratched, it is allowed to leave only good quality beacons such as Knauf inside.
Other advantages over other materials include the following:
- the installation of metal beacons is much faster in time compared to the installation of guides from the solution;
- profiles do not deform when plastering, unlike wooden and mortar structures, as well as strings. Even strong pressure on the rule will not damage the metal;
- for the installation of metal beacons under plaster, you can choose standard beacon profiles with a height of 6 and 10 mm. Thus, by choosing a suitable guide, you can adjust the thickness of the plaster layer.
This option has relatively few disadvantages. These include only the cost of profiles in comparison with other types. Another drawback that deserves attention is the inconvenience of placing beacons on the entire surface of the wall at the same time. According to the instructions, the beacons are fastened with self-tapping screws and special metal fasteners such as "Kremmer" and "Ushastik". And, if you choose another installation option without metal beacons on the solution, you will need more fixing material.

Methods for mounting metal guides
Each of the ways that allows you to fix and correctly position beacons for plastering walls has the following advantages. For example, plastic clips make it much easier to secure the guides. Plastic clips for fixing the guides are relatively inexpensive and quite securely fix the profiles. Whereas the installation of guides on plaster differs from others in some features:
- the solution for installing beacons requires less installation costs - you do not need to buy any fasteners, or dowels, or guides;
- installation requires a minimum of tools - at least no screwdriver or drill is needed;
- the installation speed is higher - the installation of each guide will take 1-2 minutes;
- beacons are removed from the solution faster, while with a minimum probability of damage (as when attaching to metal fasteners).
Among the disadvantages of this method, how to install lighthouses under plaster, one can name the work experience that is required from their performer. Non-professionals should choose other options. For example, metal fasteners "kremmer", which are easy to assemble yourself.

Installation of guides on Rotband plaster
Correctly performed installation of plaster beacons should consist of the following steps:
- Leveling the surface of the walls;
- Layout of enclosing structures, taking into account the "zero point";
- Installation of the main guides on the Rotband plaster;
- Installation of additional beacons.
Surface preparation
Before placing the beacons under the plaster on the mortar, preparatory work should be carried out. These include the calculation of the number of metal profiles required to complete the work, and their purchase. When determining this parameter, guided by the distance between the guides, equal to 1000-1500 mm. (or 200 mm less than the length of the rule).
The next stage of installing metal plaster beacons includes cleaning the walls from dirt and remnants of the previous finish and a high-quality primer. This will prevent flaking of the plaster layer and the appearance of cracks on the wall. The dried primer solution indicates the possibility of transition to the application of vertical lines to the wall surface, and, after that, to the gluing of the guides to the solution.
Of all the materials that answer the question of what to attach the beacons to, the ideal option is "Rotband" - a material with increased adhesion due to gypsum binder and additives. High quality allows it to be used to perform almost any internal plastering work. However, the best result will be obtained if the surface to be treated is completely flat. The same condition applies to the installation of beacons on the Rotband. You should know that the way how to expose beacons under the plaster of walls involves the preparation of plaster in such an amount, which will be enough only for gluing the guides (with a small margin). A mortar for plastering the entire surface of the wall, even if the same material was chosen, is made later, when the mixture has dried under the guides.
Installation of plaster beacons
The installation of the guides on the mortar begins with the installation and alignment of the extreme strips, the distance from which to the corners is taken equal to 250-300 mm. After the profiles are installed, you should once again check their slope with a plumb line and fix the intermediate beacons. To obtain a perfectly flat surface of the enclosing structure, additional guides are installed at the largest protrusions or drops.

To save material, the method of how to properly put the beacons under the plaster involves mounting the guide not on a solid strip of material, but on "cakes" from the solution. The distance between the points is from 40 to 50 cm. And to reduce the time for the device of intermediate guides, nails are installed at the upper and lower points of the two extreme metal profiles. They will have cords or fishing line, which is one of the main devices that ensure that the beacons are placed under the plaster in the same plane with the main profiles.
After finishing the alignment of the intermediate metal profiles, the nails are removed. And the work continues - the wall is plastered with the same thing that it was decided to fix the lighthouses for plaster, that is, "Rotband". At the same time, when finishing other walls, it is worth paying attention not only to its verticality and slope, but also to its perpendicularity in relation to the previous enclosing structure. To fulfill these conditions, it is necessary to use a special square, applied to the lower points of the walls in order to immediately apply beacons on adjacent walls.

Outcome
Knowing how to install beacons for plastering walls, you can simplify the work on time. And installation on a high-quality mortar from Knauf also provides cost savings. The amount that plastering work will cost will be noticeably lower - in fact, the mortar fixing, after removing the guide, will become part of the total plaster layer. Although it is desirable to use this option only for professionals - installing beacons under the plaster of walls without the usual fasteners requires more accuracy and accuracy.
