If a critical condition of one of the panels is identified, you can repair the laminate without disassembling:

  • Find an element that is suitable in size and leave it in the room in which it will be installed. This is necessary for the board to absorb moisture and take the right size.
  • To remove the damaged panel, marks are made in the corners, 4 mm back from the edge. Draw lines from the marks at an angle of 45 degrees to the longitudinal axis. As a result, you get a triangle - the cuts.
  • Using a hand-held circular electric saw, make cuts along the drawn triangles, carefully without damaging the entire structure. Then remove them with a chisel. Clean grooves and ridges with a chisel.
  • The prepared lamella can be installed; to facilitate the work, you can grind the spike located at the end groove with a wedge up to 5 cm. When installing, you can use glue, remove excess with a damp cloth. Then try not to touch the repaired area for 12 hours.

Elimination of coating defects

Removing scratches on the laminate:

  • You can do it yourself by buying a kit for its repair. It contains wax crayons of several shades. This makes it possible to find the perfect shade for the existing flooring. They can be used to remove minor scratches. Before using a wax crayon for the laminate, you need to clean the surface, then apply the crayon to the scratch and polish with a flannel flap.
  • To remove deep scratches, use a special putty from the same set. After cleaning the scratch site, put putty with a spatula. Remove excess with a damp cloth, and wipe the base dry. And leave for 3-4 hours.

Chips are eliminated using a special putty, with its help you can also repair the joints of the lamellas. The surface must be cleaned, degreased and masked with masking tape should be applied along the edge of the damaged area. Squeeze the repair paste into a container, then you can add pigments to it and mix evenly to get a complete resemblance to the laid laminate. To avoid mistakes, you should use the attached instructions for the palette. Fill the damage with a spatula, remove the tape and excess. Leave the repair site for an hour.

Various stains may appear on the floor during use. Before starting to remove them, you need to clarify their nature:

  • Fruit and berry, coffee, wine, tea, blood. If the stain is fresh, wipe the surface with a damp cloth. Dry ones can be removed with a special cleaner for laminate flooring.
  • Any repair is accompanied by the appearance of paint stains and the question arises: how to wash the laminate after repair. The answer is simple: these stains can be removed with acetone, nail polish remover or a general purpose solvent. This will remove both markers and varnish. In this case, it is necessary to use a small amount and do not expose them to an uncontaminated floor surface. Nail polish can be removed using washing powder, a little water and a medium-hard brush.
  • Rubber, dirt, cosmetics, colored pencils are removed with a dry nylon cloth. Rubber strips can be removed with a simple eraser.
  • Cool the grease stains, gently scrape off and wipe off the rest with a sponge and detergent.
  • Acid stains cannot be removed. In this case, you need to replace the burnt lamellas.

It is better to remove stains while they are fresh, after a while there is a risk of absorption into the board. Which will lead to the need to replace the contaminated lamella.

Laminate repair method with disassembly

This method is unique if:

  • The panels of the laid coating have risen, this can result from flooding the floor with water or non-observance of the rules for the behavior of the lamella laying process.
  • The appearance of a creak indicates the displacement of some areas of the floor covering. To fix it, you need to disassemble the floor and replace the substrate and, if necessary, level the base.
  • Seizing edges indicate leaks or small puddles. To prevent further deterioration of the floor covering, warped lamellas must be replaced.

And to prevent the restoration of the laminate with your own hands, you need to follow the rules for the care of this type of flooring.
