To begin with, it is worth considering the stages of work that involve the installation of a frame for a plasterboard ceiling in a room:

  1. Surface preparation.
  2. Surface measurements and material calculation.
  3. Markup.
  4. Preparation of materials.
  5. Installation of profiles.

Each of them is equally important, because when a frame for a plasterboard ceiling is equipped, its scheme is drawn up during preparation.

What kind of profile you need

Before proceeding with the consideration of the technology of the construction device, it is necessary to determine the materials used, namely, which profile to use.

Surface measurements

To begin with, it is worth measuring the length and width of the ceiling. Based on them, calculations of materials will be carried out.

The material itself is calculated as follows:

  • We divide the length of the room into 60 centimeters. Thus, we get the number of guide mounts.
  • The width of the room will serve as an indicator for the length of the profiles.
  • We also divide the width by 60 centimeters, as a result we get the number of crossbeams from the profile.
  • In total, in the end we should have a mesh of profiles on which the sheets will be fixed.
  • Now we multiply the number of guides by the width of the room, after which the number of transverse fasteners by the length and add up the obtained indicators. This way we get the total length of the profile that we need. Based on it, the profile itself will be purchased in the future.

Markup

The next step is to mark the ceiling under the drywall frame. For her, we need a tape measure, a pencil, nails or screws, a thread and a level.

The markup itself is carried out as follows:

  1. First of all, we determine the level of the future ceiling.
  2. After the level at which the frame for the plasterboard suspended ceiling will be mounted is indicated, we begin to transfer its readings to the surface of the entire ceiling.
  3. From in each side, at a distance of 60 centimeters, we hammer in another nail. At the same time, we check that the two marks are at the same level.
  4. In the same way, we equip the marks at a distance of 60 centimeters from each other around the entire perimeter of the room.
  5. Now you need to pull the threads between each mark along the perimeter, which will be the primary indicator.

Further, directly during installation, it will be necessary to pull the thread between the marks lying opposite each other, directly during the arrangement of each profile.

It is important to correctly mark up according to the dimensions of the gypsum board. This requires a drawing of the location of the drywall sheets on the ceiling.

Preparation of materials

Now you need to prepare the materials for installation. You can cut the profile directly during the installation of the frame under the drywall on the ceiling, but it would be better to prepare it in advance.

As it already became clear, preparation involves cutting a profile in accordance with the size of the room. To carry out the work, we need a tape measure, a pencil and a grinder (or a hacksaw for metal).

We need to make a frame for plasterboard on the ceiling in accordance with all dimensions of the room, therefore it is necessary to cut out segments from the profile. Take, for example, a room measuring 4 * 6 meters, and calculate the materials for it, and consider how to prepare them. Accordingly, for large rooms, the calculation of a plasterboard frame for the ceiling will be carried out in the same way.

First, we need to select a profile and calculate the number of longitudinal profiles. They will be attached along the length of the room. Calculated as follows:

  1. As already mentioned, the fastening will be carried out along the length (if the length is too large, then it is better to fasten along the width of the room, calculations for this are also carried out).
  2. To calculate the number of longitudinal profile, we divide the width of the room by the fixing step: 4.0m / 0.5m = 8. Thus, we found out that we need 8 profiles, 6 meters long.
  3. Now we calculate the crossbars. The step of their fastening is also half a meter. We divide the length of the room by a step, and then multiply by the number of longitudinal stripes. 6 / 0.5 * 8 = 96. It will take 96 segments.

  4. Note that the step of the transverse bindings can be made larger by increasing it to 70-80 centimeters in order to save some materials.

After the required number of profile has been calculated, we cut out the necessary segments using metal scissors or a grinder.

Fastening the frame and assembling the structure

It's time to attach the frame to the drywall ceiling. The process is quite simple, but it requires attention and focus. And besides, the frame for drywall from a metal profile to the ceiling should be fixed clearly in level.

To fix it, we need self-tapping screws, a screwdriver, a level. And it is also worth preparing a profile. For work we need the following:

  1. Ceiling profile (PP) 60/27.
  2. Guide profile (PN) 28/27

So, let's proceed to the analysis of the technology of fastening a frame for a suspended ceiling made of plasterboard:

  1. First of all, we once again check the fastening level, which was marked during the marking, recall that the frame should be perfectly horizontal.
  2. Now, above the level marks of the frame, we fix the profile guides along the perimeter.

  3. Then we start attaching the longitudinal profiles. To do this, first we pull the thread between the marking marks, between which the profile will be provided, and we provide for fastening the hangings for it.
  4. They are "U" shaped plates (brackets). We fix them directly along the marking thread, which shows the level of the plasterboard ceiling frame.

  5. After fixing them, you can equip the profile itself. It is fixed on both sides with a "U-shaped" mount. In this case, it is necessary to strictly observe the markup level. The thread should be slightly in contact with the profile, but should not be pulled by it, or hang at a distance.

  6. Evenness is checked with both longitudinal and transverse threads.
  7. We also fix all longitudinal profiles in accordance with the marks made.
  8. Thus, we have ready the primary frame for the ceiling under the plasterboard from the metal profile.
  9. Now we proceed to fastening the transverse profiles. They are attached directly to the longitudinal ones using crabs. Fastening takes place using self-tapping screws with a drill.

  10. After fixing all the profiles, we pull the thread between the marks and check how smoothly the frame is made from the profile under the gypsum board ceiling. Recall that the threads should only touch slightly, but not stretch or sag under the profile. In addition, we check the evenness with the rule.

But this is about a single-level, but it is also worth considering two-level backlit ceilings.

Fastening of gypsum building boards and gypsum fiber sheets

Fastening of gypsum building boards and gypsum fiber sheets to profiles (bars) is carried out mainly across the bearing profiles. For the convenience of the subsequent puttying, it is recommended to cut off the

longitudinal edge from the sheets with their side to the wall.

building boards or gypsum fiber sheets are adjusted to each other and screwed

to the frame with screws, while their deformation should not be allowed. Insulation laying

material (if necessary) is carried out in parallel with the installation of each sheathing sheet. The thickness and density of the insulating material must be calculated and taken into account in the loads when choosing the type and construction of the suspended ceiling.

When installing a suspended ceiling, adjacent sheets should be installed in staggered positions, offset from each other by at least a step of the bearing profile.

It is necessary to chamfer at a certain angle (22.5 °) to a depth of 2/3 of the

sheet thickness from the end edges of gypsum building boards, not covered with cardboard, using an edge planer.

Gypsum building boards or gypsum fiber sheets are fixed to the frame with self-tapping screws, spaced at 150 mm intervals on adjacent sheets at a distance:

• for gypsum building boards at least 10 mm from the edge of the sheet pasted over with cardboard and at

least 15 mm from the cut;

• for gypsum fiber sheets not less than 10 mm from the edge of the sheet.

When using gypsum fiber sheets with a thickness of 12.5 mm, the pitch of the screws increases

to 200 mm. A

TN self-tapping screw is used to fix gypsum building boards to the frame, and an MN self-tapping screw is used for gypsum fiber sheets.

Also, at the stage of installing the frame for drywall, it is necessary to immediately prepare the wiring for the lighting fixtures. Its laying is carried out along corrugated pipes from the nearest junction box.

  1. For the wiring device, it is necessary either to purchase a profile in which special holes for electrical wiring are provided, or to equip them in advance yourself.
