There are many innovations to create an individual design that will create a unique atmosphere of the room. It was originally drywall. Only craftsmen who knew how to fix it correctly could work with it. After that, the stormy imagination of craftsmen, designers and owners of premises led to the idea of bending drywall and cutting out bizarre figures from it. Everyone who makes repairs to this day creates unique curvilinear structures from this material.

In addition to exquisite chandeliers, spotlights began to be widely used, and light stripes appeared on the ceiling and walls. And also on the construction markets and in stores there was an LED strip. It consumes little power and is very bright. Due to the variety of colors, its use has increased significantly. Lighting of sliding wardrobes, walls, niches, plasterboard boxes. And this is not the limit. Now the ceiling, walls made of plasterboard are decorated with "floating lines". What it is? Is it possible to make a plasterboard surface with "floating" lighting elements?

What is a floating line?
Floating lines are created on the ceiling and walls to zone the room, increase its size, highlight certain interior elements. The LED strip for the ceiling creates a unique design and interesting lighting. In addition to the listed functions, this lighting has a number of advantages:
- They are in perfect harmony with the interior in the corridor and long rooms.
- LED strips on the ceiling divide one large room into parts for tea drinking and relaxation.
- Adjustable power makes the backlight main or additional.
Installation of light strips in a plasterboard ceiling is carried out provided that there are no sudden changes in temperature in the room, as well as high humidity. These lighting strips are installed not only in apartments, but also in public places.
Turnkey solutions for hovering lines
The lighting profile box (LED strip) is mounted in the ceiling, wall.
This part is made of aluminum. It is light in weight, which is very important when installing in a plasterboard ceiling. Basically, for the light hovering line, a PLS profile is used, which is installed on a TEK profile holder, having a thickness of 12.5, 13, 16 mm.
PLS profile compatibility with TEK:

And there is also the option of using a profile without a holder. This is the 019409 PLS-LOCK-H25-F-HIDE-2000 brand. It is ceiling mounted without additional elements.
Plexiglass
It is made of special materials that can withstand temperature conditions, as well as scatter directional light rays. It is a durable screen. The glass can be easily mounted and dismantled for repair work with LED strip.

LED strip and its components
A large selection of lighting tapes, both in color and in other parameters (the number of diodes per 1 sq. M.). For the LED strip in the ceiling, various LED strips are applicable, connected to the dimmer and controller. Due to this, it is possible to change the color gamut, as well as the lighting power.

Additional elements
Additional details are:
-
End pieces - required for harpoon mounting. Mainly applicable for stretch ceilings. This part contains grooves for fastening to the profile.
End pieces included -
Swivel part. Created for attaching two profiles at right angles (smooth rotation). Plexiglas of 2 types have been developed for the turning part: matt spraying and crushed ice.
Swivel part - Welded corner. They are used for mounting any connection of two profiles in one plane. By applying this angle, the figures of the individual direction are reproduced. The transition from wall to ceiling is also used.
- Cross welded joints. By mounting this element of hovering lines on the ceiling, bizarre shapes appear, refracting at an acute angle.
- Triple connections. Suitable for connecting three profiles in a single plane.
- Curved elements. Mostly made to order at the enterprise.

It is possible to create LED strips on the ceiling without additional elements, but it costs extra time and patience.
Installation of a floating line using professional equipment
Installation of the hovering line is carried out in a plasterboard ceiling with a profile-holder, which provides additional rigidity to the entire structure. This profile is installed at the time of creating a metal frame for a plasterboard ceiling.

Installation of light strips in the ceiling without a profile holder
This is a budget option, but less durable. In the process of creating a metal frame for a plasterboard ceiling, places are provided in advance for drawing a light line. Assembled systems of hovering lines are installed in these grooves and are attached to the drywall with springs.

Mounting options:
-
The PLS-LOCK-Y25_FM-2000 profile is mounted in a metal frame, while slightly protruding beyond the single plane of the plasterboard structure.
Image -
The PLS profile is fixed with a separate element (using suspensions), does not border on the metal frame and creates a single plane on the ceiling.
Image - Fixing the profile to plasterboard sheets with glue. For this, a 30 mm groove is cut in the created plasterboard ceiling. glue is applied to the protruding "wings" of the profile and the profile is glued to the surface of the drywall. After the glue dries, apply a serpentine tape and cover everything with putty. Concealed installation creates the effect of a floating line in the plasterboard ceiling.
- Overhead structures for creating light lines. These types of ceiling light strips are mounted on top of plasterboard. They have various sections (round, angular, rectangular) and side caps. These lighting fixtures are easy to install and carry out repair work.

Which installation method is more acceptable depends on the design features of the plasterboard ceiling (single-level, multi-level), as well as on the individual requests of the owner.
Do-it-yourself floating line on the ceiling
This is not a standard LED strip console. To create it, you will need a plasterboard niche in the ceiling or in the wall.

To create a floating line, this method does not use a special holder profile, as well as an aluminum profile for the light line.
Before installing the niche, markup should be done. Using a laser level, ruler, pencil, lines are drawn on the ceiling (wall) under the guide profiles and transverse.

The width of the niche is selected individually, depending on what the light line should be. You should think in advance where the switch will be located, how the LED strip will be connected.
On the lines made on the wall and on the ceiling, limiting the niche, the guide ceiling profile PNP (UD) is mounted with dowels-nails.

On the back of the future niche, the cut out part of the drywall should be fixed. Fastening is made to the PNP with self-tapping screws "seeds" every 15 cm. On the drywall with a chopping cord, the bottom line for the profile is outlined.

From the guide PNP on the ceiling, posts cut from the profiles, with a height equal to the depth of the niche, go down to the line of the chipping cord for the lower profile. The rack is cut in such a way that one side adjacent to the drywall is 5 cm longer than the entire edge. The pitch of the racks is 25-30 cm.

At the bottom of the gypsum board, along the marked line and on the sidewalls of the racks, the UD guide profile is attached in length. Excess drywall protruding beyond the boundaries of the lower profile of the niche is cut off. A jumper cut from the PP ceiling profile (CD) is fixed from the UD guides on the wall to the niche guide. If the distance is large (more than 30 cm), it is advisable to use suspensions fixed to the ceiling with 6/60 anchor wedges. The jumpers are fixed with a step of 30 cm. Along the edges of the niche from the back side (front side of the drywall), the racks are also fixed in the vertical position. This will create rigidity of the structure, as well as convenience in fixing drywall from the end for a niche.

In the created niche, it should be at the top, stepping back 5 cm from the ceiling. Fix the PNP for fastening the same jumpers.

The whole structure is sheathed with plasterboard. Inside, the niche must be reinforced, putty.
Installation of LED strip
For the hovering line, LED strips are used with different power and brightness. To change the brightness, color, the tape is connected to the controller, dimmer.

In the created niche, the bottom can not be sewn up with drywall. The ceiling profile CD is fixed to the lintels. An LED tape is glued into it in the middle and connected to the mains, the controller.

To increase brightness, as well as to ensure fire safety, the niche inside is covered with foil.
Installation of plexiglass in a niche for a light line
With this method, it is possible to collect various structures: straight, wedge-shaped, intersecting, round. And it is also possible to create lines not only flush with the ceiling, but also at any advantageous height.

To assemble the glowing strip, you will need the following parts:
- Plastic corner of 2 types: wide - 40x40, small - with a minimum shelf width.
- Universal polymer glue.
- Self-tapping screws with a countersunk head minimum dimensions.
- Falga self-adhesive.
The first step is to cut the sides from the 40x40 plastic corner so that a strip is obtained. It is fixed with glue from the inner sides of the niche in length. This is done in this way: the cut part of the strip looks up, and the flat part is flush with the plane of the ceiling. To ensure that the strip is firmly fixed on the drywall and does not "slide" to the side, stops are used. The edge of the plastic must not move below the ceiling. The strips must be glued to both sides of the niche.

Next, you should screw the corners to the plastic strips with self-tapping screws. The side part should face the inside of the box. The grooves are obtained. To fix the corner, you should take a self-tapping screw and, at a low speed of the screwdriver, screw in the screw not completely (half). After unscrew it and make a small indentation with an empty screwdriver bit in this place. Thus, when screwing in the screw, the head will completely hide in the plastic.

These created shelves are collapsible. This is needed to install the diode tape. Plexiglass is placed on the shelves. The gap left at the bottom between the plastic and the drywall is sealed with the KNAUF FUGEN joint reinforcement mortar.

LED strips in the ceiling and walls are popular not only in long corridors and large rooms. They are used in the kitchen, balcony, attic. For this type of lighting, there are no boundaries in the spaciousness of the room. In creating a soaring ceiling, a light line is applied along the perimeter of the room using plexiglass. At the same time, additional lighting in the drywall is created in the ceiling itself.
