Installing a bathtub with your own hands is fraught with many nuances and features, if not knowing which, there is a possibility of making a mistake. If you make the installation incorrectly, do not follow the rules, then there will be unnecessary costs of time and money. The situation is complicated by the variety of types of products, which leads to differences in installation technologies.
Installation of an acrylic bathtub
Acrylic baths are common because of their virtues. Firstly, it is external beauty, modern look. Secondly, it is low heat dissipation, which promises comfort in use. Thirdly, the installation of an acrylic bath with your own hands is easy, since it weighs little.
Of course, there are also disadvantages. Acrylic products are sensitive to physical impact and damage. Compared to cast iron models, they serve less. And also the installation of an acrylic bathtub should be carried out on a rigid frame so that it does not lose its shape over time.
There are two ways to install a bath:
- on a frame frame with legs, which are usually included;
- on a brick frame.
If the product was sold with a special frame and supports, then its installation can be done more easily and reliably, since this method is provided by the manufacturer.
- We start with the markings on the bathtub, and drill holes along it in order to install the guides from the frame, as well as the legs;
- We continue with the preparation of the siphon. The process is the connection of the upper and lower drains, as well as the assembly of the siphon itself;
- We continue to install the bath and its sides are adjusted according to the level. After determining the correct position, the markings are made, along which the mounting hooks are installed;
- We finish by attaching the acrylic bathtub to the wall using hooks.

If the product was sold without a frame and legs, then installation will have to be done on a brick. The process is generally similar to the first. A brick base is constructed with the possibility of installing a siphon, and the product itself is placed on it. It is recommended to use the same hooks for attaching the tub to the wall. Installation of an acrylic bathtub on bricks is more difficult than on a frame and legs.
Installation of a corner acrylic bath
Corner baths are made of acrylic and are in demand among owners of small rooms. The advantages of this form include space saving. In addition, this design looks fashionable and can fit into any interior design.

Installation of a corner acrylic bathtub begins by measuring the angle between the walls where it will be located. All of these products are created with a right angle. Obviously, there must be a strictly 90 degree angle between the walls. You can check the angle using a construction square. In most cases, you have to resort to additional measures to level the walls.
Then you should again choose how to install the acrylic bathtub: on the legs that come with the kit, or on a brick base. And the installation process itself is no different from the installation of direct acrylic models.
Cast iron bath installation
Cast iron baths are distinguished by their durability. And this is their only advantage, which, however, captivates many. These models have only one drawback - they are heavy, which complicates their transportation and installation.
Before installing a cast-iron bathroom, you should decide on the installation method. There are two ways - on legs and on bricks. Obviously, if the product has supports in the kit, then the first method is needed, if not, the second. Both methods are equally good.
- We begin the installation of the cast-iron bath on the legs by turning it to one side so that the drain hole is as close as possible to the drain in the floor;
- We continue assembling the siphon;
- We continue by flipping the bath and leveling it horizontally using a level;
- We complete the installation of the bath on the legs, which is completed by fixing them with bolts or wedges (depending on the design of the legs).
It should be remembered that when installing the bath on legs, a flat floor is required under it. However, it will not be necessary to pull out the floor if the bathtub is installed on bricks. In this case, the whole process is similar, and differs only in that the product is located on a brick base, which is reliable for such a heavy object. It is only required to level the base.

If the bathtub is placed on bricks, then the frame is constructed in the form of supports. Typically, the height of the bath from the floor is three bricks. There should be no more than 50 cm between such supports. Therefore, if you want to install a bathtub 150 cm long, you can put it on two supports. The width of the brick base should be equal to the width of the bath itself.
Installation of a steel bath
Steel baths are lighter than cast iron ones, but heavier than acrylic ones. Therefore, they gained the advantages of easy transportation and installation, but also got hold of a lack of stability. Before you install a steel bathroom, you should know one feature - installation can be carried out in such a way that there is contact with three walls. Otherwise, the bath will be too unstable.

Do-it-yourself installation of a steel bath should be done on legs; it is not recommended to install it only on a brick base. This will lead to poor stability. However, it will not hurt to build additional supports from bricks.
Before installing the bathtub, it must be turned upside down. In this position, the legs are installed. A pair of feet should be installed next to the drain hole. The second is as close to the opposite edge as possible, but so that the height of the supports is the same.
After that, the steel bath is installed on the legs, that is, it is turned over to its normal position. Then you need to collect the siphon and connect the upper and lower drain holes. Using the level and adjusting the legs with the tightening bolts, you should achieve the evenness of the bath installation.
It is recommended to lay the space under the bathroom with bricks. This will provide additional stability to the structure and reduce the likelihood of deflection and distortion. Then the brickwork can be tiled.
Bath installation recommendations
Do-it-yourself bath installation is a responsible occupation, therefore, this issue should be approached with a deep understanding of the matter. And knowledge will be incomplete without the latest recommendations and instructions.
- If you are installing a whirlpool bath, in which electrical circuits are inevitably present, then you need to build a socket with a conventional grounding;
- If the bathtub is installed strictly horizontally in level, then an inexperienced eye will suspiciously catch that the bottom is slightly inclined. This is a normal and necessary phenomenon, which ensures a rapid outflow of water;
- Before you install the bath with your own hands, you should consider how the drain will be carried out. For these purposes, it is best to use modern material - a corrugated hose. It can bend in different directions, which will ensure ease of installation, as well as reliability of operation, since this hose is strong enough;
- So that the installation of a bath in the bathroom does not disturb the interior, you should take care of the decorations. So, if additional supports and bases not provided by the manufacturer are used, then they must be tiled or a sliding shield should be built.
