These ceilings have such advantages as: perfectly flat surface, ease of installation of electrical wiring, variety of shapes.

Even before purchasing the materials, the following nuances should be taken into account: a drywall sheet weighs 27 kg - 30 kg, so you will need a telescopic lift or someone's help during installation. Further, the quality of domestic materials is often not up to par, and foreign counterparts have to be used. Waterproof plasterboard is used for the ceiling in the bathroom, and fireproof in the kitchen.

Consider the installation of a single-level plasterboard ceiling as a basic one. First, we markup on the ceiling and walls for the frame and suspensions. On all walls, retreating from the ceiling 10 cm - 15 cm, using a level we mark the places for mounting the profile for the starting frame. Using dowels, at a distance of 50 cm between them, we mount guides from a galvanized profile. We proceed to marking the ceiling for suspensions and, therefore, bearing guides. The markings are parallel at a distance equal to half a sheet of drywall (1250 cm).

We attach suspensions to the anchor dowels every half a meter. Now we take the supporting guides and install them in the starting frame, but not tightly (the gap on each side is 2 mm). This is necessary to compensate for possible deformations. The guides must be located under the hangers. With self-tapping screws LN-16 we fasten the guides to the frame. Then we attach the guides to the suspensions with the same screws, two on each side.

Now you need to install the longitudinal guides. However, if the area of the premises is small, then you can do without them. They are mounted in increments of approximately 50 cm - 60 cm, making sure that the attachment points do not coincide with those of the suspensions. There are two main ways of attaching longitudinal guides to transverse ones. One - with the help of single-level "crab" connectors, the second - into the sections of the starting profile screwed to the guides with self-tapping screws. The supporting frame for the installation of the plasterboard sheet is ready.

Don't forget about electrical wiring. It must be laid before installing the gypsum sheets in special cable channels. Also, the hidden wiring should not lie inside the metal profile, in order to avoid a short circuit.

We sheathe the frame with sheets, this will complete the installation of a plasterboard ceiling. We fasten the sheets with self-tapping screws, starting from the wall. There should be a distance of 2 mm between the sheets; the same distance should be between the wall and the drywall sheets. After laying the last sheet, we cover the joints with special mixtures for sealing joints. It remains only to putty the ceiling. See a detailed video instruction, everything is laid out there.
