The first question when decorating a room with ceramics is which adhesive for tiles in the bathroom to choose. Knowing the features of different adhesive mixtures, making a choice is not difficult. And given the fact that there are not so many such varieties, the question of acquisition becomes quite simple. Next, we suggest that you figure out together with the existing varieties of mixtures, and decide which tile adhesive is best in the bathroom.

What to look for before choosing?
There are a number of factors that directly affect the choice of mixture. Accordingly, the question of which adhesive to choose for tiles in the bathroom will receive an answer only taking into account these nuances.
- The first factor is the size of the tile itself. Here you will have to pay attention to the level of adhesion of the adhesive mixture. In particular, for larger and heavier tiles, you will need glue with an increased level of adhesion. While for a small tile, you can take a mixture with a lower level.
- The operating conditions are next. In the case of a bathroom, it is necessary to take into account the possible provision of a warm floor system, in which a mixture with higher heat resistance characteristics is required. In the case of laying on drywall, you will additionally need to pay attention to the waterproofing qualities.
- And another one will be the base itself, on which the laying is carried out. In this case, an important indicator is the level of moisture absorption by the surface. That is why it may be necessary to purchase a more elastic mixture, which may cost a little more than standard options.
Also, considering the question of which adhesive for tiles in the bathroom is better, do not forget about the difference in mixtures for walls and floors, this is due to the different fluidity of the composition. Here you will either need to select different types of glue, or use a universal mixture, which we will talk about a little later.
We draw your attention to the fact that each manufacturer has a wide range of products and which tile adhesive is suitable for the required tasks to solve not by cost but by a sound approach. This is due to various additives that are included in the composition and give the material additional viscosity and fluidity.
Types of glue, features and purpose
It should be noted that there are several types of compounds that are used for laying tiles. Therefore, in order to choose, it is necessary to know each of them separately, to have an idea of their properties, and besides, to understand the purpose.

There are five types in total:
- Thin layer.
- Thick layer.
- Elastic.
- Epoxy.
- Fungicidal.
And let's look at each of the types separately in more detail.
Thin-layer tile adhesive
This is the first and most popular type of adhesive mixture. Its main feature, which becomes a distinctive characteristic, is the permissible layer thickness. For this glue, it is no more than 1 centimeter.
Considering the purpose of such a composition, we can note the use in work with flat surfaces, defects, irregularities and differences in which do not exceed, respectively, 1 centimeter. The composition itself, when set, forms a fairly strong adhesion to the surface, in addition, it acquires a high level of frost resistance.
Among the representatives of this type of adhesive mixture, one can single out the manufacturer Mira, in particular the brand "Mira 3100 unifix".

Thick layer mix
If strong irregularities are noticed on the walls or floor, then the answer to the question of which glue to lay the tiles on will be thick-layer. The thickness of the tiles, if used, can exceed 10 millimeters.
As already became clear, a similar mixture is used when working with uneven surfaces with a deviation of up to 2 centimeters.
The most popular brand of this type of adhesive is Kreisel maxi-multi 107.

Elastic adhesive
As mentioned earlier, when the possibility of moisture absorption by the tiles and substrates is low, elastic adhesive is used. A distinctive feature of such a material is low mobility and high adhesion resistance. It is these properties that determine the use of the material when laying tiles on a warm floor, as well as when arranging a movable base.
Among the prominent representatives of the species are Moment "Elast", Knauf Flexkleber and other mixtures of this type.

Epoxy compounds
Another type is epoxy mixtures. This type of composition is most often used when laying tiles in swimming pools, bathrooms and other rooms with increased requirements for waterproofing. This application is mainly due to the waterproofness of the glue.
In addition, chemical resistance can also be noted. In some cases, this type of adhesive is used as a grout for joints, which allows them to be completely sealed.
According to experts, the most high-quality compositions are Ceresit CU 22 and ARDEX WA.

Fungicidal adhesive
And the last on our list is the fungicidal composition. This type is also a good option for installing tiles in the bathroom, and all thanks to its characteristic features.
In particular, we are talking about additional additives in the mixture, which prevent the formation of fungus and any corrosion processes. This ability for the bathroom is one of the most important, and even irreplaceable.
Also, of course, there are other classifications of the adhesive mixture, for example, by color, since it is also important. Especially when it comes to laying transparent tiles, where standard yellow glue can ruin the whole look.

Universal adhesive: features, advantages and disadvantages
In addition, there are also classifications by purpose. One more composition should be mentioned, in particular, we are talking about a universal adhesive mixture, such is Ceresit CM11.

Of course, we should also mention the unique adhesive mixture, since when often asking the question of what kind of adhesive to glue the tiles on in the bathroom, the answer is found in its use.
But let's figure out what it is. By itself, such a glue is a kind of golden mean between all specialized types of mixtures. Moreover, you should not mistake it for something very good, since it takes the middle not from expensive adhesives, but becomes something between cheap and expensive.
Whatever good and expensive tile adhesive is, it is important to follow the instructions for use, which says about the stirring time and the pot life of the solution.
Thus, its use is not always advisable, and in particular, it is better not to use it in the bathroom, due to the following factors:
- Considering that this room is one of the most aggressive in terms of load on the coating, the question of which glue to glue the tiles in the bathroom should be considered more carefully. A universal mixture of such loads may not withstand.
- Such a mixture does not resist moisture well, and even taking into account the sealing of the joints, moisture penetrates under the tiles from the side of the ceiling, where they are poorly protected.
- That is why, when deciding which glue to use for tiles in the bathroom, you should stop your choice on moisture-resistant compounds. The only alternative would be a standard mix using water repellent additives and a special grout.
That is why, if you are considering glue for tiles and which one is better from those presented, you need to stop your eyes on specialized mixtures, and leave this type for the corridor, for example.
