Everyone strives to create maximum comfort and coziness in the living space. First of all, you need to think about high-quality heating, where preference is given to infrared warm floor. This is due to the manifestation of its large number of positive features, as well as the ability to warm the air in the room from the floor itself. However, one floor will not be enough, as you will have to think about choosing a floor covering. The most optimal option when installing a warm floor using an infrared film is a laminate. But here it is very important to know the sequence of all works on installing the film floor under the laminate in order to get a high-quality result.
Set of materials
Before starting work, you should think about buying the necessary material, which will consist not only of the underfloor heating system, but laying the flooring in the form of a laminate. You should not waste your time and purchase all the components of the infrared floor heating separately. Currently, it is possible to purchase everything in the kit, where there are even small parts needed during the installation process.
The set of components of the heating system includes:
- Infrared film of the required length. The calculation should be made in advance so as not to be distracted from work in the future.
- A thermostat that allows you to independently adjust the required temperature level or turn on the entire heating system at a certain time.
- Temperature sensor that is installed in the subfloor under the laminate. Its main purpose is to determine the room temperature level.
- Contact clamps.
- Insulation kit.
Electrical wiring for connecting all major components together and connecting them to the network.
- Operating instructions for underfloor heating, as well as a warranty card.
In addition, you will need to additionally purchase some materials for the very installation process of the film floor under the laminate. This includes the underfloor heating system, as well as the plastic foil laid under the floor covering. We must not forget about the tape, with which you can connect the rows of heat-insulating material or the contacts of the film floor, arranged under the laminate.
When laying laminate flooring on a film floor, you will also have to buy polyester film or an alternative material - a noise and sound absorbing underlay.
To achieve the desired result and get a warm room with an excellent floor finish, you will have to properly plan everything in advance and, if necessary, draw up a diagram of the distribution of all components of the warm floor under the laminate.
Initially, the working area is determined where the film floors will be laid. It will not include areas located under bulky furniture, as well as other objects that will obstruct normal heat transfer.
In addition to this, a diagram appears on paper according to which the film floor should be placed under the laminate. Subsequently, the resulting diagram is attached to all documents of the warm floor, so that it is possible not only to monitor its performance and carry out repair work, if necessary, but also to install all other components of the "pie" of the floor base in the room. After all, when screwing on individual elements or other types of installation work, the heating component of the warm floor can be damaged.
Preparing for installation
You can start the process of installing the film floor under the laminate on your own. It is enough just to study the instructions from the manufacturer, as well as the technology of the device of the heating elements. This allows you to save money on calling specialists.
Any debris must be removed from the surface so that it does not obstruct the stacking of all components. If there are any unevenness in the sub-floor, get rid of them. If they are insignificant, then it will be enough to arrange the fill layer with the help of self-leveling compounds. With significant differences in height and surface defects, it will be necessary to level the floor with a concrete screed. Further preparatory work can be started only when the solution is completely dry and set. Otherwise, we will not be able to get a high-quality warm floor.
After that, a waterproofing layer with a polypropylene coating is laid on the base. This will be a kind of underlay for the film floor system. The installation of a warm floor under the laminate is further carried out precisely on a high-quality layer of insulation. Underfloor heating should be laid with the metallized side up. In this case, all joints of adjacent rows of heat-insulating material must be glued with tape.
Focus on the substrate
Under a film warm floor, arranged under a laminate, it is best to use a substrate in the form of foamed polyethylene or polypropylene. It is covered with a lavsan film with a metallized layer. All this together provides the opportunity for heat to be evenly distributed over the entire surface.
If a high-quality substrate for a film floor is arranged, then electricity costs will be reduced. After all, about 80-90 percent of all thermal radiation from heating elements is retained.
In addition to the fact that the substrate is arranged under the underfloor heating systems, such a material should also be laid under the further flooring of the floor covering, which in our case is the laminate. It must be necessarily fenced off from heating elements. Otherwise, over the life of the "pie" of the warm floor, between the laminate and the base of the floor, a so-called layer will appear, leading to the appearance of knocks and sounds during walking.
The thickness of the substrate under the laminate on the film floor should have a thickness of 2-5 mm. There is also an option for a specialized substrate that has an increased level of heat conduction during the operation of the heating system. It also acts as an additional layer of insulation of the base of the floor, it is a kind of shock absorber, it allows you to get rid of possible minor differences in the level of the surface along the plane.
The most optimal option for a substrate for a laminate on a film floor is polyethylene in rolls. It can be perfectly combined with building materials such as concrete, cement compositions, and is able to resist the appearance of fungal deposits and the appearance of bacteria. At the same time, the main thing is to carry out it additionally and high-quality surface care.
After the floor surface in the apartment is leveled to a horizontal position and the underfloor heating has been laid, you can think about the distribution of heating elements. They should be located according to the previously created scheme, based on the "working" area of the room. The strips of the film floor under the laminate can be cut to the required length and, if necessary, create a bend. This increases the heating efficiency of the base.
Also, a thermostat and a temperature sensor are installed, which together create favorable conditions for maintaining the required temperature level. You can independently set its limit, as well as choose the time to turn on and off the heating elements.
At the end of the activation of the warm floor, it remains only to connect all the components to the mains. The main thing is that the voltage in the cable matches the power of the heating elements. If there is no such indicator, then you will have to replace it with a new one, based on the required parameters. We must not forget about the mandatory grounding device.
After checking the underfloor heating system, testing it, you can start laying the laminate on the film floor. But not everyone will know how to lay a warm floor under the laminate correctly and according to all requirements. Be sure to lay the substrate, which serves as an interlayer between these two components. All that remains is to choose the option of flooring flooring (parallel, perpendicular, diagonal) and start working.
It should be noted that each variant of the distribution of the laminate over the floor surface in the room has its own characteristics. For this, there is an instruction for laying laminate on a film floor, which contains the sequence of actions, as well as basic recommendations, subtleties that should be paid special attention to.
When the laminate is laid, it remains to set along the walls in the room around the perimeter of the skirting board, which are fixed on dowels with locking joints. Of course, you can choose completely different options, including high-quality thresholds to smooth the transition between rooms, in the doorway. Everything will depend on the requirements and the financial component of the issue.
Tips from professionals
When laying laminate flooring on a film floor, as well as distributing heating elements and connecting all components to the network, it is best to follow the recommendations from professionals, which will allow you to get high-quality heating and a comfortable subfloor.
When performing work on your own, you need to choose those systems that are produced for this very purpose. They contain detailed instructions on the procedure for carrying out the work.
- The use of an additional layer of thermal insulation under the heating elements will help reduce energy costs, since heating will become the most efficient. No losses will occur, all the heat will go inside the room.
- If the climate in different rooms is different, then it is better to combine heating systems, and not choose one specific option. In addition, one circuit cannot be located in different rooms (in the hall and on the balcony at the same time). A separate connection should be made, where the temperature is different from each other. In this case, it will be easier to choose the type of laminate flooring.
- If there is a basement below without heating or a cellar, it is necessary to additionally perform a waterproofing layer under the heating elements.
- Saving wires can be achieved if the temperature sensor is located closer to the center of the entire structure. The place should be chosen where the temperature is most likely to be lowest. The wires must be placed in a corrugated pipe.
- Rooms with a high level of humidity do not like film floors, as well as such flooring as laminate. All these structures will quickly fail and will not bring any effect from the operation of the heating system. For this reason, the installation of infrared floor heating under the laminate is not done here.
- The maximum length of the underfloor heating film should be no more than 15 meters. In the process of installing a film underfloor heating under the laminate, grounding must be provided.
As a result, you get a high-quality heated room without reducing the distance from the ceiling to the floor. In addition, with the help of a laminate, you can complement absolutely any interior option due to a variety of colors and images on the surface. The article was written specifically for
