To give the interior of the room a finished look, laminate is successfully used. Due to the richness of its palette, you can choose a material that will exactly match the design idea. In addition, this coating is an additional insulation for any floor. You can put the laminate on the parquet, but our site will tell you how.
To put the laminate on the parquet you will need:
- jigsaw;
- roulette;
- a hammer;
- pencil;
- square;
- a hacksaw for wood;
- a tamping block.
1 Keep the purchased laminate in the room where the installation will take place for about two days. This is necessary so that it adapts to the humidity and temperature of the room. Prepare your laminate flooring tools. Usually they are: jigsaw, tape measure, hammer, pencil, square, hacksaw for wood, tamping block.
2 Prepare the parquet surface. Assess the horizontalness of the laminate base. If there are irregularities, level them out with a sander. Check the hardness of the coating. In the event that the boards sag under the weight of a person, they should be replaced or strengthened. Apply a self-leveling screed to ensure that the floor is horizontal.
3 Lay the plastic wrap perpendicular to the direction you will be installing the laminate. Then lay down the backing. The best option is a cork, because it is made of environmentally friendly materials, but foamed polyethylene of different thicknesses can be used.
4 Place the laminate on top of the old parquet floor. The correct way is to lay along the line of incidence of sunlight. This is due to the fact that the panel joints will not be visible.
Laminate is divided into two types: glueless (lock) and adhesive. The first has either latches (Lock) or collapsible locks (Click). The main advantage of the latter is bond strength. Lock-locks, in turn, are cheaper, having a lower quality of grip. The lock type laminate is laid by inserting the spike of one panel into the groove of the other.
5 Install the laminate in a “brick” manner, i.e. the rows must communicate with each other. Install the first row. If at the same time the last panel turned out to be longer than necessary, saw off it, taking into account that there should be a gap between it and the wall of about 3-5 mm. Start the second row with the cut off part. Remember, it should not be shorter than 20 cm. Carry out the entire installation in this way.
