The main difference between this option for finishing the floor covering is its low cost. By itself, gypsum does not have a high price level. They can cost even less than cement-based formulations. Almost all manufacturers provide a uniform composition of the mixture to fill the gypsum self-leveling floor. The only deviation is alpha gypsum, which is a high-strength material.

There may be a filler in the mixture in the form of fine quartz sand, which, in general, contributes to better surface spreading and plasticity. The latter property is important to avoid cracking after installation.

If you use special grades of gypsum in your work, you can get strength that exceeds the requirements of building codes. The strength will be up to 30 N / mm 2.

It is enough to add the required amount of liquid to the mixture for preparing the solution. It is very important to observe the proportions set by the manufacturer. Most often, they will be spelled out on the packaging of the finished mixture. After installation, you can move on the surface calmly and without fear after a few hours. Ved gypsum has a high drying rate.

The main disadvantage of a gypsum self-leveling floor is the low level of moisture resistance. In this case, it is better to choose tiles, linoleum among floor coverings. They will not let moisture through. But premises, like a bathroom or specially designated rooms for a boiler, should not be equipped in this way.

Methyl methacrylic

With the development of technology, people try not to stand still, but constantly think about something new. One version of the self-leveling floor has the properties of elasticity and strength, the second is a version of the rough base, and the third generally gives an ideal appearance to the place that few people pay attention to. But I want to get everything in one, that is, buy a two-component self-leveling floor.

In addition to the rigidity of the finished version of the base, plasticity is also inherent in it, which came from the polyurethane version. Among the features of such a coating is the surface roughness, which does not allow slipping even on a wet floor. The area of use is pool floors, bathrooms, showers and similar objects.

There is also a two-component polyurethane self-leveling floor, which gives the second component its properties and characteristics. The most important of them are plasticity and good fluidity, which excludes the appearance of cracks on the surface after drying.

In order to correctly, efficiently and competently carry out the device of self-leveling polymer floors, one should adhere to certain norms and requirements, the sequence of work. It will be enough to do everything step by step:

  1. Complete cleaning of the surface from foreign objects, any dirt and dust. When work is carried out on the street, even asphalt is removed, which can have a negative impact on the self-leveling floor later.
  2. Special building mixtures are used to eliminate unevenness and roughness.
  3. In certain situations, the surface under the self-leveling floor is primed.

  4. A container is selected corresponding to the size, in which all the necessary components for the finishing coating or technical floor are mixed, including also possible additives, components.
  5. Fill. The solution should be poured at the highest point in the room and then evenly distributed over the surface. In this case, the laser level will help, which will set all the parameters. Rolling is carried out using a needle roller. It is he who will allow you to adjust the layer thickness.
  6. If desired, particles and decorative elements can be applied to only the poured solution.
  7. If this is a topcoat and not a subfloor for laying the flooring, then after 10-12 hours the surface should be varnished.

A day will be enough to dry any type of self-leveling floor, but it will be able to dry completely after a week. The only exception is methyl methacrylate options, which can dry until ready one day after installation.

It is better not to use self-leveling floors as a leveling screed. On any irregularities, such a mixture will harden and form a reminder of shells, seals. It will only make things worse. In addition, dismantling the self-leveling floor is very problematic and costly.

Material consumption

The mixture used in the work on the self-leveling floor is very important. It may include various components and additives that contribute to the manifestation of certain properties and qualities of the finished solution. When a self-leveling floor is performed, the consumption will depend on various factors, which include not only the base itself, but also the slope over the area of the room. It is impossible to deviate from the minimum indicators of the thickness of the finished solution for the finishing coat. This data should be recorded at the lowest point. Often, the minimum parameters are prescribed directly by the manufacturers of the mixture on the packaging.

If finances allow you to buy additional bags of ready-mix above the amount due, this should be done. If you do not buy the missing amount in time and do not fill the self-leveling floor, then the costs will be much more than an extra bag. Among the mixtures for self-leveling floors, Scorline T45 is distinguished by its fast drying after installation. Its minimum layer cannot be less than 2 mm, but the maximum reaches 10 cm. The mixture is applied under any floor covering, including when installing underfloor heating.

For a self-leveling floor, fast-hardening coreite scorline is packed in separate bags of 20 kg. If the average thickness select indoors 1 cm, per m 2 will take about 13 kg of dry mix. For each kilogram, it will be sufficient to pour 0.35 liters of water. These indicators are optimal and most applicable in work.
