How To Insert A Metal Front Door

Metal doors, most often, come to the installation already assembled: the door leaf is fitted into the door frame and hung on the hinges. All locking fittings are cut in, so installing the door will not be difficult.

To insert a metal door you will need:

• roulette;
• level;
• a hammer;
• drill perforator;
• socket wrench # 17;
• screwdrivers;
• sanding machine;
• metal door with a box.

The order of the work

1. Before installing the door, check its quality: the door leaf should not touch the frame when opening.
2. Check and prepare the doorway (it should be 2 cm larger than the door frame). Be sure to check the inner sides of the opening for verticality. Quite often, when measuring between vertical lines, there is a need to widen the opening.
3. Begin installing the door frame without the door leaf from the outside of the opening. If the frame is not too rigid, then the door frame can be installed assembled with the door itself. However, the entire door is heavy enough and inconvenient for installation.
4. Secure the frame or entire door assembly to the opening with wooden wedges. Place wedges between the end of the opening and the frame on the inside of the door.
5. Now hang the door leaf carefully if necessary. Be sure to lubricate the hinges, otherwise in the future, an error may occur due to friction in the hinges. If the frame is installed correctly, the door leaf will remain stationary in any position when it is open.
6. Depending on the type of fastener, drill holes of the required diameter in the wall for bolts and fittings with a puncher. There are three types of fasteners for metal doors: fastening with anchor bolts or driven reinforcement with further welding, fastening with anchor bolts through the frame, fastening with driven reinforcement with further welding to the frame. Nowadays, fastening with driven fittings is very popular due to the zero probability of loosening of fasteners during operation. In order to increase the strength of doorways, they are framed in a frame made of metal corners and plates.
7. Insert all anchor bolts into the holes and hammer in the pieces of reinforcement. Tighten the nuts and weld the fittings only in the vertical frame posts at the middle level.
8. Hang the door leaf and check the tightness of the door leaf to the frame from the inside. If necessary, adjust the tightness by moving the door frame.
9. After you have adjusted the position of the metal door, secure it around the entire perimeter.
10. The final step in installing a metal door is to fill the space between the wall and the door with assembly foam. Remember to remove all wooden wedges first. That's all.
