Now the choice of tiles is so great that everyone can choose a facing material according to their taste and financial capabilities. At the same time, given that the services of a master tiler are not affordable for everyone, many lay the tile with their own hands. And of course, in the process of facing work, questions arise about how to correctly perform this or that procedure. And, perhaps, the most questions are about cutting tiles and how to make a hole in it. Here are some guidelines to help fix this problem.
We correctly cut the tile with our own hands
First, before you start cutting the tiles, they must be soaked in water. For the soaking procedure, 40 minutes is enough. After that, it is necessary to make markings on the enamel, for this use a soft pencil or marker. You also need to remember that the cut line should be no closer than 1-0.8 cm from the edge of the tile itself.
A very important note - the cut is made only once, while the pressure on the glass cutter must be evenly distributed in order to exclude the appearance of unnecessary burrs and scratches. This is followed by the tile breaking procedure. There are several ways to break tiles. The first method: it is necessary to align the notch on the tile with the edge of the table, and then click on the part of the tile that protrudes beyond the edge of the table, the tile will be broken exactly along the notch line. The second method is to place a small nail or match under the cut (groove) on the tile made by a glass cutter and lightly press on the tile on both sides of the cut line.
How to cut tiles with a tile cutter
If you need to cut the floor tiles, then a tile cutter is used, as in the photo above - a special cutter for cutting tiles. The difference between a tile cutter and a stele cutter is that its wheel is much larger than that of a glass cutter and this allows you to make a deeper cut. Also, the tile cutter has a special mechanism with which you can break the tiles into pieces immediately after the cut. It should be noted that if floor tiles are cut, then this mechanism must be made of metal. For wall tiles, a plastic analogue of such a tile cutter is quite suitable.
