These include roofing glassine and cardboard, roofing felt, roofing felt, roofing felt and other materials used for the manufacture of roofing, as well as for performing insulation and related work on the roof.

Roofing cardboard is the basis for the manufacture of tar and bitumen roofing and waterproofing materials. Modern industry produces cardboard with a width of 1 m, and the total roll area reaches 20–40 m 2. The mass of 1 m 2 can be equal to 250-420 g.

Such a coverless backing material is used for the lower layers of roofing carpet made of roofing felt. Roofing glassine is made of cardboard impregnated with petroleum bitumen. There are such brands of this material as P-300 and P-350. Glassine is sold in rolls of 20–40 m 2, weighing 13–30 kg.

Roofing can be made from roofing cardboard using double impregnation with tar products. This roll material is produced without a cover (roofing felt) and with sandy and coarse-grained dressing. The purpose of the roofing roofing is the device of the upper and lower layers of the roofing carpet. Waterproofing roofing paper is used to insulate various structural elements.

Coverless roofing felt or leather-only is intended for the same purposes as glassine. In some cases, it is used to arrange the bottom layer of a carpet of roofing tar paper with sand dust.

Roofing paper with double-sided sanding is used for the device of both the upper and lower layers of roofing carpet. There are two brands of this material, namely TKP-350 and TKP-400 (roll weight - 23-25 kg, its area - 15 m 2).

On the front side it has a protective layer made of coarse-grained dressing, and on the back - from a dusty mineral. This material is used for the top layer of roofing carpet.

The waterproofing roofing roofing with a covering film of the impregnating composition has a protective layer with a fine-grained mineral dressing on the front side. The bottom layer of this material is covered with dusty or fine-grained dressing. Such brands of roofing roofing as TG-300 and TT-350 are produced. Such roofing paper is intended for vapor barrier and waterproofing of building structures. It can also be used for the lower layer of roofing carpet.

Roofing rolls should be stored upright for a maximum of one year from the date of release.

Roll materials, depending on the type of binding material, can be divided into tar, bituminous and polymer. The most common roll material for roofing is roofing felt.

Roof covering with roofing felt

In the process of manufacturing roofing material, the following main technological operations are performed:

  • impregnation of roofing cardboard with soft petroleum bitumen;
  • applying refractory petroleum bitumen with filler on both sides of the web;
  • applying various sprinkles.

All grades of this soft roll material are divided into:

  • lining;
  • roofing;
  • waterproofing.

Types of roofing material

Coarse-grained roofing felt is used for the upper and lower layers of roofing carpet and waterproofing. The roll weight is 25–27 kg, and its area is 10m. It can be applied to both hot and cold mastic. Two grades of such material are produced, namely RKM-350B and RKM-350V.

Roofing roofing felt with dust-like dressing on the underside and coarse-grained on the front side is intended for laying the upper layer of roofing carpet. Modern industry produces four grades of such material, namely RKK-400A, RKK-500A, RKK-400B, RKK-400V (roll weight - 24-29 kg, its area - 7.5 m 2).

Roofing felt roofing felt is produced under brands such as RKCH-350B and RKCH-350V: one-sided (roll weight - 20-28 kg, its length - 20 m), double-sided (roll weight - 26-32 kg, its length - 20 m).

Roofing material with one-sided dressing is applied to hot mastic, from two-sided - both hot and cold.

Lining roofing material with fine-grained dressing is one-sided (roll weight - 20–26 kg, its length - 20 m) and two-sided (roll weight - 24–39 kg, its length - 20 m). This type of roofing material is used for the lower layer of roofing carpet, as well as for waterproofing buildings. There are three brands on sale, namely RPM-300A, RPM-300B, RPM-300V.

The lining roofing felt with a dusty powder has the same purpose as the previous one. It is sold to construction organizations and the population under such brands as RPP-350B and RPP-350V (roll weight - 27-30 kg, its area - 15 m 2). Three more existing brands of roofing material with dusty dressing are used only for the lower layer of the roofing carpet and are not intended for waterproofing. These brands are RPP-300A, RPP-ZOOB, RPP-ZOOV (roll weight - 22-27 kg, its area - 15 m).

Glass roofing material belongs to the group of rolled roofing and waterproofing materials. Bitumen is applied not to cardboard, but to a fiberglass base from both sides. In construction works, such grades of glass roofing material are used as S-RM (for waterproofing and lower layers of the roof), S – RK and S – RF (for the upper layer of the roofing carpet). The mass of a roll of such material is 23-29 kg, the area is 10 m 2, the thickness is 2.5 mm, and the width is 960 and 1000 mm.

Each grade of roofing material is designated by a corresponding brand, for example, PM-400. The number here indicates the mass in grams per 1 m 2 of the base cardboard, and the meaning of the letter "M" is "fine-grained dusting".

To stick roofing material, bitumen mastics of different brands are used, which depend on their heat resistance.

In addition to the above brands, modern industry produces roofing material with an adhesive layer of mastic applied to it. Before use in construction work, this layer is pre-softened with the solvent specified in the attached instructions, or melted with hot air.
