The first step in making a do-it-yourself collar is to carefully mark the roofing sheet according to the specified dimensions. The cut workpieces are bent in such a way that, as a result, the details of the lower and upper parts of the side aprons turn out to be paired: two right and two left.
We make our own collar for downpipes
The halves of the collar are connected with single folds, after which they are soldered with a treter. Folded joints can be replaced with bends directed along the water flow, which are first riveted with 2-3 rivets with a diameter of 2-3 mm, and then sealed.
Depending on the size of the dormer window, it is covered with one or two paintings. Before starting the production of paintings, it is necessary to measure the lathing in order to establish the diameter of the window base, the length of the half-cone along the ridge, the length of the half-cone along the slope.
Then, in accordance with the obtained dimensions, a do-it-yourself drawing of the window is drawn up (front and side views), according to which the roofing sheet is cut, taking into account the allowances for the overhang and folds, and two pictures are prepared.
The collar of the dormer consists of one front and two side aprons, harvested in accordance with the specified dimensions on a workbench using a mallet and mandrel bar.
First, on the front apron, the short side cuffs are folded back, and then the long cuff located between them. On the side apron, first of all, bend the share edge, and then the edge laid on the crate. The long edge is folded back at a right angle, and the short narrow edge is piled flat.
Dormer windows are covered with the same material as the entire roof. Particular attention should be paid to cutting the places of their connection with the roof slope.
The protective cap of the ventilation or chimney hood consists of a cover and four sides.
Blanks are cut from sheet steel according to templates. In the sidewalls, the droppers, upper rectangular rims and edges for folded joints are folded back. A hole corresponding to the size of the chimney is cut in the lid and the inner sides are bent. Then the cover is connected with corner seams to the sidewalls.
Umbrellas serve as protection of smoke channels from atmospheric moisture penetration into them. Umbrellas are either pyramidal or conical in shape.
For the manufacture of conical umbrellas, roofing steel is suitable, having a thickness of 1-1.5 mm, and for pyramidal umbrellas, it is 2 times thinner steel.
To unroll the conical umbrella, draw a circle of the required diameter, then draw two radii from its center so that the angle between them is 35 °, make an overlap allowance, and then cut out the workpiece.
Next, the edges of the workpiece are connected and fixed with 3-4 rivets, from the outside, 3 racks are attached to the umbrella, also using rivets.
To unroll a pyramidal umbrella, you need to draw a square of a given size, connect its opposite corners with diagonals, forming 4 triangles. One side of the triangle is cut, along the cut line, the workpiece is moved apart at an angle of 25 °, allowances are made for the folded joint and hem.
The finished workpiece is slightly bent along the sides of the triangles, and then connected with a closing fold. Four posts are attached to the outside of the umbrella. See also how the installation of drainpipes is done by hand.
