Do-it-yourself installation of a ventilation pipe requires maximum accuracy in order to cut a hole for it in the roof, since it will be very difficult to close a large gap.

There are two types of gutters, depending on the design of the roof: suspended and wall.

Pictures of wall gutters are made on a workbench. In a double pattern, the short sides of the sheets are connected to each other by double recumbent folds located in the direction of the water flow.

On one of the long sides of the picture, the edge necessary to join with the ordinary coating is folded back. Having stepped back from the other long side 200-250 mm, on the short sides, one notch is made with a depth of 30 mm, and then the lapel tape is bent along the long edge at an angle of 60 ° to the plane of the picture. For double recumbent folds, the corners of the edges are cut by 45 °. Depending on the annual amount of precipitation, the side of the gutter is folded back to a height of 120-150 mm.

At the next stage, on the short sides of the picture, the edges are folded under the recumbent folds: for the pictures of the gutters located to the right of the water intake funnel, the left folds are made down, and the right ones up. The wall gutter is attached directly to the edge of the roof as it is used in the absence of an overhang.

The most common are suspended gutters with a weir sheet. Basically, they are semicircular, but in some cases there are rectangular ones.

The sheets in the picture are joined by means of double recumbent folds and upset so that they are on the outside of the gutter. The finished picture is bent with a mallet on a special device. At the end of the gutters that do not join the funnels, plugs are placed.

In order not to violate the stylistic unity of a wooden house, box-shaped gutters pre-impregnated with an antiseptic are used, hollowed out from half of the log. It is possible, if desired, to make a galvanized collar for drainpipes.

Color shading options. When the scale and rust have been removed, the iron is thoroughly rinsed under running water and then dipped in a blackening solution prepared according to one of the recipes below.

  • Water - 200 parts; sodium hyposulfite - 16 parts; ammonium chloride - 12 parts; orthophosphoric acid - 1.4 parts; nitric acid - 0.6 parts.
  • The solution is gradually brought to a temperature of about 70 ° C and the iron is placed in it for about 20 minutes. As a result, it becomes covered with a black matte film.
  • The solution can also exert its effect at a temperature of 20 ° C. In this case, the product must be kept in it for at least an hour. As a result, a matte black film appears on it, but less durable than at a temperature of 70 "C.
  • Water - 200 parts; caustic soda - 130 parts; sodium nitrate - 35 parts. Iron, which is covered with a black shiny film as a result of this procedure, is lowered into the solution brought to a temperature of 135 ° C for 1.5 hours. Water - 200 parts; caustic soda - 300 parts; sodium nitrate - 6 parts.

In the solution brought to a temperature of 150 ° C, the product is placed for no more than 10 minutes, which in the process is covered with a matte black film.

At the end of the procedure, the products are first washed with hot water, then dried in the open air, after which a thin layer of natural drying oil is applied to them.

At the wall and chimney, drainage is made at least 150 mm above the roof level.

Sheets overlapping the inner rounded corner of the roof are laid with an overlap of at least 100 mm.

The diameter of the drainpipes depends on the amount of water entering them. So, the diameter of the downpipe for a roof having an area of 30 m 2 is 80 mm; for a roof with an area of 50 m 2 - 90 mm; for a roof with an area of 125 m 2 - 100 mm. Installation of drainpipes is installed at a distance of at least 30-35 mm from the wall and is fastened to it using walled pins with clamps and clamps. To prevent the pins from rusting, they should first be galvanized or coated with any anti-corrosion compound.
